Our History

Boehringer Ingelheim is a Pioneer in Biotechnological Research and Production

Starting as early as 1895, our groundbreaking work in interferons in 1963 was what truly put us on the path to the company we are today. When Boehringer Ingelheim’s first biologic in the market was registered in 1983, this also marked the birth of what was to become Boehringer Ingelheim BioXcellence™.

We contiuously invest in capacities and knowledge

Our history is best told in innovations and the on-going expansion of our global production capacities. We are a pioneer in biopharmaceuticals and continue to invest constantly in the research and development of new therapies in our parent company Boehringer Ingelheim. As a contract manufacturer, we also ensure that we are capable of meeting our customers’ development and production demands. The last two decades alone have seen seven major investment projects in our production facilities at our sites around the globe. In more than 35 years of biotech production, only one thing has never changed:

We deliver first-class biopharmaceuticals to patients anywhere in the world.
